Lovely Easter

David woke up to an Easter basket filled with clothes (not exciting), coloring books (slightly more exciting), and M & M's (very exciting). He ate all his M & M's with a little help from Mom and Dad. We went to church at Spirit Garage...we haven't been there FOREVER. Mandy and Corey inspired us to go. David was pretty good. We sat in the balcony so he could move around a little more freely...all was well until he hurled a crayon box over the balcony that hit a lady in the head. She was uninjured and accepted our apologies.

After burning my potato dish, we went over to Carol's for a wonderful Easter Lunch. She always has way TOO MUCH yummy food that she puts lots of time and love into. We stayed most of the afternoon. David had an Easter Egg hunt....Dusty helped him find the eggs. David was very interested in Dusty's banjo that he brought over to play for us.

We missed seeing Dave and Mary and my parents.

Results from Endocrinologist

I just talked to the Endocrinologist's office. They tested two Growth Marker Hormones on David last week. One was fine. The other test came back very low. It is called a 1GH1 hormone that his liver makes. Because of this result, the doctor has ordered an outpatient test to test his Pituitary Gland function. We'll do this next weekend (March 29th) at Children's Hospital.

Other news:
Our daycare provider is on vacation this week so David has had a very busy week of babysitters!

On Monday I stayed home with him.

On Tuesday he went over to Winnie and Vivian's. The girls were VERY excited to have him around. They helped feed him, brushed his hair, pushed him around on their tricycle outside and may or may not have woken him up from his nap : ) Britta is sure he went through attention withdrawal after he left because they sure doted on him all day!

On Wednesday Grandpa Dave and Grandma Mary came over. They brought an Easter Basket full of treats! They said he was a very busy little guy and had a fun day with him. Mandy stopped over to visit also.

Today (Thursday) Grandma Carol is over...she knows the drill and was very happy to see him this morning.

Tomorrow he'll go over to cousin Bobby and Greta's. Greta calls him Day-Day. Very cute.

We met with the Speech Clinician and a Teacher. They came to our house and played with David and observed him. They basically said that at this point they don't have enough information to say whether or not he has a speech problem. The age at which kids start to talk varies so much...from 1 to 3 years...that this early they can't tell. They are going to come back and evaluate him when he is 2 years old this summer. They did give us some suggestions for getting him to imitate us. So, not much new. He was great though...he figured out all the puzzles they gave him and gave his toys to the teacher to play with. Very cute stuff!

Welcome to our Blog!

Welcome to our blog! We'll see if I stick with this, but I thought it would be a great way to record the events in David's life and update you on our familiy's happenings!

This week we brought David to an Endocronologist, which is a hormone doctor, because he hasn't been growing much since he turned a year old. He is off the chart for height and weight. We think he is just perfect, but apparently if a child is not growing or has dropped off their growth curve, they want to investigate why. The Endocronologist said that 1/3 of kids who are not growing have a reason, other 2/3 are just little. They did an Xray of his bones to check his bone growth and did some more blood tests. David was a trooper and was just flirting with all the nurses. We finished out the day by having a grilled cheese sandwich in the Hospital cafeteria. We'll find out the results in a few days. We're not expecting anything to be wrong.

On Friday the Mpls. School District is sending a Speech Pathologist over to the house because David isn't talking yet. Again, we are expecting that nothing is wrong...he is just waiting until he has something important to say! Ma Ma would be just fine with me!

David is such a happy fun little guy. He is perfect in our eyes and perfect in the eyes of all his loving Grandparents, that is for sure.

Other than that...Damon went up to Anoka last night to record a bass line for some songs his friend Doug is recording...he said it was great to get back in a recording studio. David has no idea his papa is a Rock Star!

I'm just trying to lose some weight...the constant battle continues...I've been doing the Weight Watchers program which so far I have found at least tolerable!
