Endocrinologist Results

Yesterday we went in to meet with David's Endocrinologist to talk about the results of all the testing they did last month.

David's hormone levels of IGH1 are borderline so we are not going to do the Replacement Therapy yet. We are going to bring him in every two months to weigh and measure his height and test the hormone level to see if it is going up. If after 6-9 months if the level is not increasing and he is not growing they will do a IGH1 Replacement Therapy. Essentially we are taking the more conservative approach and not doing the Therapy until we are absolutely sure there is a problem.

We were very please and reassured at the appointment. The doctor explained that we are not causing any problems by waiting. If it does turn out that he needs the Replacement Therapy, he will catch up with his growth then, we are not jeopardizing anything by waiting. He assured us that the treatment is VERY safe.

Visiting Grandparents

We visited Grandpa Dave and Grandma Mary on Saturday night. When we arrived at their house David ran into Grandpa Dave's arms and I am sure that made his day. We ate pizza from Broadway Pizza and David had lots of play time.

On Sunday we went over to Grandma Carol's to celebrate Birthdays...mine, Pidge's and Uncle Bob's. Here is a picture of David taking Grandma for a walk.

Welcoming Sophia to the Family

We went over to Chad and Christine's house (Damon's Stepbrother) to visit their new baby, Sophia. She was just darling. David was more interested in their staircare, their dog and snacks while visiting....but I'm sure they'll grow up to be close cousins anyway. Welcome to the family Sophia!

Ahh...warmer weather!

We went for a nice walk at Woodland Nature Center. Here is a picture of David looking at the geese. He also fed them some goldfish, even though you aren't supposed to do that!

More tests

Last weekend we went in for another blood test w/ the Endocrinologist. The worst part was that it took them 5 tries to get his IV in...three nurses tried, a doctor, and they finally had to get an Anesthesiologist to get it in. Poor little guy. But the testing is finally done. The doctor had the results from the first test. He said that in that test, David was producing high levels of growth hormones. We still have to wait for the second set of tests to come back. But it sounds like what they need to figure out is, if he is producing lots of growth hormones, why is his liver not processing the hormones? More to come on that...we have the appointment w/ the Endocrinologist on April 29th. I'm sure we'll have lots of questions.

David made out like a bandit in the hospital though...he got a giraffe, a beanie baby and a big stuffed teddy bear. The nurses must think he is as cute as I think he is!

Girls Night Out!

I had a FABULOUS FUN night with my Gustavus girlfriends-Amanda, Wendy, Tracy and Billie. We rented a room at the Embassy Suites. We all brought the kids to swim in the pool in the afternoon, then the hubbies picked the kids up! We took full advantage of the Manager's Happy Hour, ate pizza in the hall (because we locked ourselves out of the room), did facials and pedicures, drank more beer and had a wonderful morning brunch. I definitely needed a night out with the girls and can't wait until we do it again.

Spring is near?

I can tell David is going to be an outdoor guy! He loves his swing and giggles with glee when he is in it. Yesterday I took him for a walk at Woodlake Nature Center. He was pointing out all the birds to me and seemed pretty interested in looking at the Lake. Hopefully he will enjoy camping this summer as we already have 2 camping trips planned!

He did part of his testing w/ the Endocrinologist last weekend. It wasn't fun. They had to put an IV in his foot and take blood samples every 20-30 minutes. Thankfully Grandma Carol was with us to help out because Damon had to work. We got a room with a DVD player so we watched Cars and Bee Movie during the test. We will go back in a couple weeks to do more tests. So, no news yet.
