Busy Winter Weekend

Friday night we headed to the Minneapolis Novas hockey game.  Amazing how much a hot dog at the arena makes a kid happy.

Saturday we headed to Crashed Ice...along with 100,000 other people.  Cool to see.

Snowy afternoon skating with Bobby and Greta.  David's friend Hart was skating too!

Brrr! Shack Time.

Sunday night was Downton Abbey night.  For the occasion we made a "spot of tea"!  Very fun time.

Tea with a side of Coors Light.

Sunday we braved the cold weather to go Snowshoeing down the river.  It was absolutely gorgeous and we got in an awesome workout.
We snowshoed down to the Burns shack and back.

Jimmy and Foxy rode home on top of our woodpile.  Good thing they were all tuckered out from running.
Grandpa and Mikko playing Candyland.  Loved seeing this from outside.

We ran dangerously close to running out of diapers so I drove to the nearest TINY town.  They had one package of diapers that happened to be Mikko's size.

Freeze Yer Gizzard Blizzard Run

The temperature was not as cold as last year, but the road was snowy/slushy so it was super hard to get traction.  A hard run!
We had a little get together at the shack afterwards - chili, soup, sledding!

Playing with flashlights in the bunkbed - always a hit!

Smores.  It was starting to get REALLY cold!

More skating

Bundled up for a cold day

We brought hot chocolate and cookies and snuck into the warming house to warm our toes.

Mikko has improved so much in two weeks.

He thought it was super funny to cover his face up with the cookie when I tried to take his picture.

Potty Progress and Puppy Party

Mikko gets to put up a Thomas Sticker every time he goes pee on the potty.
When he poops on the potty he gets another train track.  I told him when he goes a night without pee in his pullup he'll get Tidmouth Shed.  Finally making some progress on the potty front.

Greta was SO into the dogs when we spent New Years together that I decided to have a Puppy Party for her.  They ate out of dog dishes.

Foxy got some grooming from Greta.

Jimmy's turn.

Making Dog Biscuits.

They  made all kinds of shaped dog biscuits.
dog bone shaped pizza
Eating out of dog bowls.

Skating, Children's Museum - busy weekend!

There is a huge outdoor rink at David's school.
Great skating weather - no one melted down about their toes freezing.

I spent 90% of the time pushing Mikko around on this chair.  Go Left.  Go Right.  Faster.  More circles.  Not into the sun Mommy.  He was pretty bossy :)

New Skates!

Watching Vikings game on Saturday night.  Mikko kept hitting his head on things so we took out the helmet. He thought it was pretty funny.
This is where I found Davit at about 4:00am. Top of the stairs.  Too tired to even crawl in bed with us I guess.
Grandma Carol gave us a membership to the Children's Museum.  David loves this place.  Here he is working the crane.

It was all fun until it was time to leave.  We carried two crying kicking boys out.  Not a picture for their brochure.

Happy New Year

New Years at The Shack

Snowshoeing

Off on an Adventure Hike.
David carried a giant candy cane for protection against animals.
We came upon this super cool scene.  It is in a field and you can see where an owl swooped down to catch something.  The marks from its wings are in the snow. David was blown away!
David helping Grandpa shovel the river for skating.

Lots of sledding, as always.

Making Tom and Jerry's

Mikko got new hockey skates.
