Camping Trip -Lots of Fun for the Boys, Lots of Work for the Parents

David staring at the campfire. He was pretty much obsessed with the campfire. He wanted to throw everything into it and help daddy so much. Love his enthusiam for the fire, but it was also very nerve-wracking with him running around the campsite.

Mikko enjoying graham crackers at the picnic table.

David was catching bugs that were attracted to our lantern. All fun til a huge black one flew in his face and he screamed "IT'S TRYING TO GET ME" and cried hysterically, just as Damon was trying to get Mikko down to sleep.

Relaxing by the fire.

David throwing leaves into the fire. I'm surprised there were any twigs or dead leaves left in the campsite after we left.

Mikko hanging out by the fire. Love this sweatshirt. It was Bobby's, then David wore it a bunch, and here is Mikko. I guess I love the color - very Nordic.

Damon cooked us all a yummy breakfast of sausage and eggs.

Mikko spent the whole time just picking up rocks, twigs and dirt. He was so content doing that all day. I'd say a dozen ended up in his mouth.

Playing w/ David's tricycle.

Fun bouncing on the air mattresses.

Daddy and David trying to nap in the hammock.

I'm not sure I'll ever get these jeans clean - oh well, he's almost outgrown them.

Jimmy and Foxy
They were pretty good campers. There were deer that were running through the woods behind our campsite and they didn't goo TOO nuts.

David wanted to have a campsite parade. Here we are!
Watch out Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - you have competition.

There were lots of acorns dropping from the trees.
We drew faces on them and made acorn families.

David caught a fly and put it in this bug keeper.
Damon told him that "Now you have a pet fly".
David then hugged the bug keeper and said "I love my pet fly."

All 3 boys in the hammock. 3 Peas in a pod!

Leah and Mikko having some afternoon cocktails!
Grandma Carol brought this very special cookie just for David. It is a hot dog and ant - very cute and he loved it.
Grandma Carol sure loves you.

On our hike.
David was leading us on the trail.
His cutest move was when he was walking ahead of us and we were singing "I live to move it, move it" and he'd shake his little butt for us.

At Hidden Falls.

David was obsessed with throwing rocks into the water.

Riding his tricycle around the campground in his pajamas.
I think I got a glare from Damon when it was on my list of stuff to pack in the van, but it was a definite hit.

We went camping this weekend.
People at work told me I was "brave" taking the boys camping, the ages they are now. They were right. Wow, it was so much work....BUT...the boys had an absolute blast.
They both love being outside so camping is perfect. Both mine and Damon's nerves, patience and tolerance was tested to the max though - campfire dangers, getting the boys to bed at night, messiness etc.
But the funny things they did were well worth it. Another successful family trip!
Carol, Mandy and Leah came and visited on Saturday afternoon which was very fun and it broke up the day nicely. We love visitors when we go camping!
