Fall Trip to Shack

Saturday morning we woke up to this Partridge in the tree outside our window.

David helped Damon make a morning fire to warm us up.

Mikko came to help too. David is now sorting the marshmellows out of his Lucky Charm cereal that Grandma bought him.

Steve was talking about "Cleaning" his partridge that he shot. Later I found David in the back bedroom "cleaning" his partridge (a bear statue) with the kitchen scrub brush. Hilarious. At this point I don't think he really understood what "cleaning a partridge" meant.

Grandpa Huntz made a sign for the "Soapy River". Over the summer, we drove by this creek and David wondered why the water was so soapy.

Here is the picture from our summer trip.

Grandpa had to make a sign because he thought it was so cute that David thought the river was "soapy".
Enjoying a beer on the deck. Wonderful weather!

Nissa and Lucia came out to visit. Here is Lucia checking out Foxy. She was SO fun. Loved her. I think she was the smiliest girl I'd ever met. So fun to see her.

We took a little hike in the woods. Jimmy and Foxy tagged along. Do they look happy or what?

My Dad took Steve and Damon across the river to hunt since his bridge washed away this summer.

Blaze orange appeared across the river so my Dad got the boat to pick them back up.

Playing with the apples for the deer. I have an almost identical picture of David this same age.

Mikko loved the wood pile. In the background my Dad is making a new "Thinking (and drinking) log in front of the firepit.

I loved these tall wavy grasses and thought it would be a cute photo op for Mikko. Guess not! He hated it.

_____________
Just spent a wonderful weekend at the Shack. Steve and Amanda came up again, which has become a fall tradition. We had lots of fun. The weather couldn't have been better. So much fun, it was hard to come back to reality. The boys had lots of fun and cuddles with Grandma and Grandpa. We can't wait to go back again for Thanksgiving!
