Spring trip to the Shack

We arrived at the Shack around 11:30. I woke Mikko up to get him out of the car and I thought for sure he'd be cranky. He took one look at Grandma Marlene and smiled and was happy as a clam. Here is his snuggling with her upon arrival.
Grandma made David a Peanut Butter sandwich for a late night snack after our long journey north.

In the morning we woke up and David wanted to play his new Cars Memory game with Grandma.
This is David's new "not so nice" look. He gave her this look when she got the first pair.

But, he cheered up, even when she won. She have a really good memory because I can never beat him. Notice the spilled Hot Chocolate on his PJs. He wanted marshmellows in his hot chocolate (he remembered this from Christmas) but Grandma told him that Grandpa ate the rest of the bag and he kept talking about that all weekend.

Here is David looking outside at the deer. You can see it at the feeder. Grandpa calls the window David's "Deer Stand"

David feeding the deer.

Now he is feeding the ducks.

Grandpa was collecting worms for fishing. David didn't want to hold them, but he did touch them.

Grandpa is building the kids a Playhouse. David is standing in front of the platform. It is going to be so cute. It is going to have a porch and everything. Grandpa never stops working or thinking of new projects. Anything for the grandkids!

David even helped Grandpa move the trusses for the playhouse. He helped Grandpa work outside all day, even though it rained.

David was fascinated watching Grandpa move firewood with the Oliver.

Grandpa's little helper.

All wet after a hard day's work at the Shack.

Two tired guys after the day.

Mikko was super vocal all weekend. Here he is screaming and babbling.

Exploring every inch of the Shack.

Making messes.

Grandma and Grandpa occupied the boys so well that I even got 6 bibs sewn.

I decided to take the boys up to the Shack this weekend. We hadn't been there for awhile. (We had a trip planned earlier but we were all sick and couldn't go).
It was my first trip taking the boys up solo. There were absolutely wonderful. David told me everytime he had to potty in the car. Good thing he is a Shack Boy and learned quickly how to go in the woods because twice we were nowhere near any gas stations. Mikko was especially good in the car. Grandma and Grandpa had so much fun with the boys. The weather wasn't so good, but David spent most of the day outside "working" with Grandpa despite the weather. I feel so lucky and appreciative for the love and attention they shower on the boys. We sure missed Damon and can't wait til next time when he'll be along.
